OutBAAC Summer Camps
Summers are a special time of year in children's lives! Kids love coming to OutBAAC Summer Camp where they will belong to a community of their own as they can come together with other children to have fun. Campers will engage in physical activity, creative expression and true participation in a community environment led by positive role models who have the time to listen, talk, and relax.
The Bel Air Athletic Club OutBAAC summer camp is for children 3 1/2 to 15 years of age. Swim lessons, water activities, sports, arts and crafts, martial arts, science and nature activities and weekly field trips enable campers to enjoy an active, fun-filled summer. Campers are divided into groups depending on the grade they are entering in the fall. Three or five-day and half-day options are available.
What Makes OutBAAC Summer Camp Different?
Our goal is to provide a great camp where children make friends, have fun and enjoy their summer vacation! We also want to make summer camp easy and convenient for parents with as many options as possible.
Counselors – the majority of our summer camp counselors are looking forward to working with children as a career. Many of them are college students majoring in Early Childhood, Elementary and Physical Education as well as Nursing and Psychology. The Camp Manager and Assistant Camp Manager are certified teachers, well known and respected in Harford County. All staff are background checked with fingerprints by the FBI and CJIS . Camp counselors are also required to be CPR and First Aid certified.
Compare prices – our weekly rates are very competitive. Early Bird registration provides a better discount than some of our competitors, sometimes more than twice as much. Early Bird discounts are available on all regular camp rates not just the 5 day rate and families get a sibling discount in addition to the early bird rate. We welcome you to compare our extended care rates with that of our competitors. We provide both a daily rate and a weekly rate that is very affordable.
You create your schedule – if you only need camp three days a week the choice of days should be yours. Not every family has the luxury of a schedule that fits neatly into coming to camp Monday/Wednesday/Friday.
The youngest campers - children as young as 3 and ½ may attend camp. We believe we can provide the best experience by dividing the youngest campers into two groups, 3 and ½-4 yr olds are in one group (Joeys) and 5 yr olds entering kindergarten are in a separate group (Kookaburras). There is such a wide range of ability, developmentally between a 3 and ½ year old and a 5 year old. Each age is best served by having its’ own unique group.
Parents have a choice of half day (8:30am-12pm) or whole day camp (8:30am-3:30pm) as well as selecting 3 or 5 days. Extended care is available for Joey and Kookaburra campers.
Registration Fees – if you pay in full there is no registration fee. If you select the payment plan there is a one-time $25 registration fee per family.
Withdrawing from summer camp– we recognize that family’s plans may change as the summer approaches. By paying in full, families have the ability to transfer weeks of camp or cancel and receive a refund. (amount of refund based on when notice is provided)
Camp t-shirts – there is no additional fee for camp t-shirts! It is included in the cost of camp.
Activities – the camp day is full of a variety of activities that will appeal to many children. Arts and crafts, outdoor play on the camp field, gym games in the BAACyard Clubhouse, the Rockwall and the Treehouse as well as science and nature activities are just a few of the ways we keep your child busy and active. OutBAAC Summer Camp also includes swim lessons and martial arts classes as regular activities at no additional cost.
Field Trips – field trips are such an integral part of summer camp. Campers look forward to traveling on the buses and experiencing new activities. We schedule field trips that are age appropriate for each camp group. There are field trips appropriate for the whole camp but we will also schedule different field trips for different groups with the age and developmental level of each camp group in mind.
CIT’s –Counselors in Training – our goal for CIT’s is to provide an opportunity for youth entering 8th-10th grade to develop skills they can use when they enter the workforce. While all applicants are accepted, we do ask prospective CIT’s to complete an application and participate in a brief interview. Because CIT’s provide assistance to counselors we believe their weekly camp fee should be discounted from the regular camp rate. Not all camps treat CIT’s in this manner. At the end of the summer we provide a letter with the number of hours a CIT helped with camp for their guidance counselors. Many CIT’s return to us after high school and rejoin us as counselors.
Member Pricing for Camp – all children who are members of the club when they attend camp are entitled to the member rate. If you initially register for camp as a nonmember and then become a member of the Bel Air Athletic Club before your child attends camp, we will refund the difference between the nonmember and member rate.
